After the disappointment of last weekend's clash with Old Reds being postponed, EURFC hit the road this week, looking to back up their most recent outing in National 2 West, where they secured an impressive victory away to Dings Crusaders.
Ironically, EURFC's away form has been better than their home form so far this season, with just one loss on the road against Clifton.
Bournville though, will no doubt prove a stern test for the side, despite sitting in twelfth place in the league. Their most recent outings have proven that they are a side that can mix it with anyone. After an entertaining draw at home against Loughborough Students, Bournville secured an important victory on the road last weekend against Stourbridge, as they look to build momentum into the festive period.
Team News:
EURFC make a number of changes for this fixture, including Dylan Power at outside centre. Power has played for Bristol Bears in the Premiership Cup this season and will add an extra element to a backline that sees one other change, as Ed Volley starts at 12.
In the pack, Archie Alexander is joined by Elliot Young and Tom Gulley, whilst Ronan Kelly moves into the second row, alongside Tirion Bowen,
Josh Thorne returns to the side at number 8 and is joined in the backrow by Rob Gordon and John Bailey.
Tomorrow’s Opponents:
Having been promoted into the National League system in 2020 as Midlands Premier Champions, Bournville have established themselves as a competitive side within the division.
Bournville Rugby Club was formed in 1909 as the rugby section of Bournville Athletic Club. Recent years has seen the club make progress up the rugby pyramid, after struggling during the early years of the English rugby union leagues system. Recent seasons has seen the club move from level ten to level four following their promotion into the national leagues in 2012 when they won promotion to National 3 Midlands via a promotion play-off, after a second-place finish in Midlands 1 West. Despite returning to the Midlands leagues, Bournville returned to National 2 following the culmination of the 2019/20 season.
Opposition Players to Watch:
Max Craven - Centre - Craven is Bournville's top points scorer this season with 53 points to his name.
Mikey Ho - Wing - Ho is Bournville's top try scorer with 6 so far this season. He will be a player to mark closely for EURFC.
